KAINAMUI – KIRINYAGA
The Kainamui factory serves 1,800 smallholder coffee farmers who are members of the New Ngariama FCS, about 600 of whom are women. The FCS provides prefinancing for farmers to allow them to pay school fees and production costs.
This bold coffee consists of Batian, SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11. Kirinyaga is forested with a wealth of exotic wildlife, receiving 50 inches of rain per year. Many rivers run through the region and the soil is rich and volcanic.
The Cup: Intense cola and burnt sugar with cooked blackberry flavors. Sugary sweetness and lots of tart tartaric acidity.
