Description
TANZANIAN SAMBEWE AMCOS
NATURAL PROCESS MICROLOT
Sambewe AMCOS represents more than 440 smallholder farmers, all of whom live in or around the villages of Sambewe, Itumpi, Nansama, Iyenga, & Ileya in the Mbozi district of Tanzania. This AMCOS has three specific goals for the future: to build a new central processing unit, to renovate the office building & warehouse, and to plant local trees to create shade and biodiversity.
Natural coffees are first sorted for ripeness & quality before being rinsed. Then they’re spread on raised drying beds, where they will be rotated constantly throughout the course of drying, which takes an avg of 20–25 days, depending on the weather. This lot contains Blue Mountain, Bourbon, Kilimanjaro, Luwiro, and various other heirloom varieties cultivated in Tanzania.
In The Cup: Malt, cooked cascara, & fresh coffee cherry with piquant acidity and candy-like sweetness.
